2009 Marks the 14th Annual North Carolina Veterinary Conference,
and we are bigger and better than ever!

Join us November 6 – 8 at the *new* Raleigh Convention Center!

See what we have added to the program this year - per your suggestions! The Small Animal, Equine and Ruminant tracks are clinically relevant, with current topics. The Corporate track provides you with information on a different facet of veterinary medicine. The Public Practice track will enable you to become a member of the NC Veterinary Response Corps. The Animal Welfare track delves into legal issues of concern to Veterinarians.

The theme for this year's Veterinary Technicians' track is “Taking it to the Next Level”… a fitting theme as we take the NCVC to the Raleigh Convention Center! The track will kick-off with a luncheon speaker on Friday, and classes will run Friday afternoon through Saturday. Of course, Technicians are always welcome to attend the Veterinarians' lectures as well.

The SCAVMA Auction and Exhibitors' Reception on Friday evening will kick off the social activities. Come prepared to bid on exceptional items and have an evening of fun; if you are lucky, you may win a $500 door prize. Remember, you must be present to win. Our new Exhibit Hall is in a beautiful 22,500-square-foot ballroom: You must see it to believe it!

The NC State Alumni Social returns this year, and will be held immediately after the last session and before dinner on Saturday. The alumni social is complimentary. This will be a fun-filled gathering with your classmates, friends and colleagues. Entertainment will be provided by the Raleigh Jazz Orchestra.

On Saturday evening, after a delicious dinner, SWING STREET will entertain you in the tradition of a Big Band! Come and enjoy the NCVC Speakeasy with a Recession Special: Dinner and entertainment for only $20 per adult!

We are so excited to show off our new digs this year! Be sure to look around and visit all of our new space! For the first time in years, all lecture rooms will have classroom seating, with desks for you to write on. The Raleigh Marriott City Center is connected via an underground tunnel, and the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel is a mere half a block away. We hope you will experience all the fun downtown Raleigh has to offer!

Another change you will see at NCVC this year is a conscious effort to “green” the meeting. After construction, meetings and conventions are the most wasteful industry in the US! You will see tent cards placed around at the conference telling you about choices we have made to reduce our carbon footprint. For starters, the postcards you received in the mail were made from 50% recycled content with 30% post-consumer waste. The trees used to make the card stock were certified by the Forest Stewardship Council to ensure responsible forest management and utilization of resources. Keep an eye out NCVC for other “green” changes!

On behalf of the NCVC Executive Committee and the Program Committee, please mark your calendar and plan to attend. You will definitely want to be a part of this exceptional continuing education opportunity.
